The pride of manufacturing world class Unilever products in Bangladesh began in 1964 in Kalurghat, Chittagong when our production facility started off. Here we have a state of the art personal products factory , a soap manufacturing facility and tea packaging unit. We have continually invested in utilising technological advancements and have trained our workforce to optimise on the production capacity through ownership and maintenance.

Safety first and always first
We do not consider safety as a separate process; rather the most important and non-negotiable element in our every business process. We are committed to provide a safe working environment for all our employees. Our relentless effort to achieve the highest standards in safety has resulted in 3 million man-hours without any lost time accidents at the Kalurghat factory. This achievement was recognized by Unilever with the Prestigious Unilever Safety Gold Award.

 

In addition to significant improvement in productivity and reliability we have embarked on a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM ) journey to achieve excellence in manufacturing. These initiatives are expected to transform the Kalurghat site into a world class manufacturing facility. We encourage our employees to make Kaizens - self designed improvements in the factory floor. One of our employees, Habibur Rahman, implemented a Cooling tower modification as a major Kaizen that saved the company millions of taka.

All these efficiencies were brought keeping constant focus on quality of our products and processes. In 2003, we received a rare ‘A rating’ during the Unilever International Quality & Consumer Safety Audit which stands out as a testament of our commitment to quality for our consumers.

Our manufacturing processes are designed to minimise the impact on operation on the environment and we have successfully maintained our effluents at much lower levels than national standards. As a company, we are environmentally responsible and have state of the art environment management facilities.
